Might also be considered for Symphonic.

One of the pioneers of Norwegian progressive rock; it's somewhat surprising that they aren't already included. Released a bunch of progressive albums and went on to lose the progressive elements somewhat and play more regular folk-inspired rock. They created a own regional genre of rock in Norway, and members of this band are still famous and prominent musicians in the country.

Good stuff, Desoc! Thanks. I'm passing the suggestion to the Prog Folk team.

We're having a tough time with this band in Prog Folk - I'm going to kick them to Eclectic just to see if they are a better fit there.  I like their sound but despite the Celtic nuances they really don't quite seem to fit in PF.

Prudence is one of my all time favorite bands. I have got everything from them.

I am not so sure if they belong in ProgArchives though. If yes, it is a toss up between Folk, Eclectic or Prog Related.

Eclectic might be just as good, or Symphonic. I suggested Prog Folk mainly  because I think they have many folk references (not necessarily anglo-folk though) but I agree that isn't the core of their music.

Clem; another band you should take a look at is Gåte. They are in Heavy Prog now, but in my opinion it is folk music that is their main platform, and despite some heavy guitars every now and then I am puzzled that they weren't included in Prog Folk.

Torodd, if Prudence don't belong here I don't know what most other artists are doing here.

^ The Eclectic team is evaluating the band now, Desoc. Thumbs Up

"Under Consideration", says a 2010 chart, but that's a bit old, so I'll bump the suggestion.

Just to be clear - Prog Folk passed on these guys but I thought they were being considered by Eclectic, so I assume any response you're looking for will come from that team.

Yeah, I thought as much, from reading your earlier post in this thread.

And even though they won't end up in Prog Folk (and perhaps not even in PA at all) I won't stop considering them a Prog Folk bandWink

Can't seem to find them on Eclectic's chart at Progfreak. Are Eclectic really considering them?

Also, I would be more than happy to write up a bio on them if they're accepted into PA.

Eclectic's chart on progfreak is stuck in a time warp at around the year 2009. Bands that are still in the section of their chart labelled 'new ' actually appeared on that site almost three years ago, and some have long since been added to the main PA database...Basically Eclectic stopped using progfreak before prudence were suggested so no, you won't find anything for them on there. The other problem with Eclectic is that actual evaluations also seem to be stuck in a bit of a time warp too, and have done for most of the last 12 months. They are struggling with quite a backlog at the moment, and news doesn't filter out to the public forums very often at all, I'm afraid. All you can do is sit tight and wait for one of the New Bands collabs to pickup on this thread and ask the question for you in the appropriate section of 'the zone'. Tongue

Audun,

I think we all agree Prudence belongs here somewhere.  If Eclectic is backed up at the moment and you're willing to write the bio, go ahead and do that and post it here or send it to me.  I will add the band to Prog Folk for now and we can discuss moving them to Eclectic when the time is right.

And completely off topic now, but this might end up being a swap for Gåte since I see an earlier post in this thread asking us to consider moving them into Prog Folk.  I'm okay with Gunnhild Sundli being sent my way any day! Cool

Heavy Prog ---------> Prog Folk?? That's not a move...That's a giant leap!!...From what I've heard of Gåte they don't really fit either sub, and are another band I'd personally class as Eclectic. I can fully understand why teams would want Gunnhild Sundli on their patch though, irrespective of what the music sounds like!!
