What's your favorite sax solo in prog? Mine's on the track Us and Them with a nod to the Foot of our Stairs section on A Passion Play.

Money by Pink Floyd
The Gumbo Variations by Frank Zappa
and probably millions of others that I can't name right now.
I love the saxophone though, used to play it as a matter of fact. Probably don't know how to anymore

There are so many I love, but for me, one will never be topped: "The Sleewalkers." Maybe my favorite moment of music ever. |

if i can be permitted to include a reference to sax soloing from a complete album-the debut record "Smile Awhile" by german jazz-rockers Brainstorm-there is no one solo-the sax on the whole record just sings!

21st Century Schizoid Man. I remember the first time I heard that song before I knew prog and it was on the radio, I absolutely hated that part. Now, it's my favourite sax solo ever.

My personal favorite is the solo by Didier Malherbe (Bloomdido Glad de Brasse) on the song "Master Builder" from the epic Gong album "You"!
I saw that cat live in Chicago a few years back, he is fantastic!

That's awesome I actually kind of miss playing but I'd rather learn to play guitar as of now.

There are two that come to mind...suprisingly one of which has been said, one of which hasn't.
Camel's First Light and King Crimson's Starless. Both magic, both perfect, both can't be beat.
David Jackson has many highlights as well. I love all the Sax solos on Godbluff, but my favorite just might be Killer's.

February's Valentine from Colosseum's Valentyne Suite.
Not normally a big fan of saxophone solos as I find they can be a bit raspy but this one from Dick Heckstall-Smith is a corker. Starts off lyrical and gets more frenetic with some great back-up from Jon Hiseman's drums and Dave Greenslade's mighty Hammond. |

Hard to think of a favorite, but one that hasn't been mentioned yet is the effects-treated solo by Bunk Gardner on the studio version of "King Kong" (Mothers of Invention, Uncle Meat album).
