Jim, that Rebus sound clip is on my top five of rare italian prog for years, but, like you, I couldn't find any information on the album. Maybe Mats or Andrea can help you. Sorry.

Rebus or better The Rebus are a band founded in 2001.
They are actualy listed here!(to be correct: in the "Unsigned Bands" thread)

The track on Youtube is just faked to be from 1973!

https://myspace.com/therebusband/music/song/05-cogito-ergo-sum-.mp3-81918649-90248496

They changed their name to Il Fauno di Marmo now.

Hard to believe, T. If all the new bands sounded like that, maybe I would listen to more modern RPI.

I know a person who claims to have a Rebus album from 1973.    ???   Did they put out a whole vinyl as a hoax?

Album also listed on RateYourMusic with a track list of 9 songs.

I tend to think there is going to be no firm answer to this question, unless Jim's contact can produce the goods. Just a few scraps of misleading and vague info on a bare few pages.

He's right, Rebus is a 2000s band with a new named as TheH states below.  Actually the album is real but it was recorded in 2002 and not 1973.  Another album under the new name is coming soon.

Hold the presses.  Now it appears there ARE indeed 2 Rebus bands and one is from the 70s.  Pretty solid info from my source.  Will report back when confirmed, sorry for confusion guys.

Jim, with this new confusion, I revoke your application to the Scooby Doo gang, or at least make it `pending' for the time being until this is clarified!

This definitely looks like something NOT made by the 2000s Rebus band.

What say ye, TheH?

I don't know guys, this doesn't sound 70's at all to me. It sounds like a modern band trying to recreate the old sound.
I don't think the sound and their style fits the 70's, but that's only what I hear, I could be wrong.

Probably you're right, sag, but it's well done. The Rebus albumm from 1973 is really a Library music album.

I don't see in that tracklist anything close to 5:31 (the youtube video), I guess there's a mix up somewhere.

Yep. That Rebus song doesn't seem to belong to the seventies.
