Moon Safari - Blomljud

I hate dividing an album in tracks, specially a good one, but i'm just curious how many of you apreciate this masterpiece.

mines would be:
Other Half Of The Sky [31.27]
Methuselah's Children [15.43]
The Ghost Of Flowers Past [9.47]
Bluebells [10.11]

also, does anyone knows what Blomljud means?

Ah - Blomljud - one of my favorite albums of recent years. If I recall correctly, the title translates to "the music of flowers" or "the sound of flowers", I forget which.

Great music within, Ghost of Flowers Past is my favorite with Bluebells a close second, then the epic, Methuselah's Children, and Yasgurs Fram, each a classic in it's own way. Great stuff.

Great album, one of few that got me into Prog fully two years ago.

While Lady of the Woodland and Ghost are my least favourite songs, Methuselah, Other Side and Bluebells are my favourite. Methuselah's finally.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

How does it compare to "A Doorway to Summer" which is a bit poppy. A bit like A.C.T possibly.

I really don't see what's so great about this album. I like the cover but the music does nothing for me. Also, ''Sound of Flowers'' sounds like making it a little too long, ''Flower Sounds'' would be better.

Good point. Doorway is warm (as MS call it), has its moments, but pales in comparison with Blomljud. But is still good for me.

A.C.T - Of course, good point Ian. They're basically doing the same thing, melodically at least. But Moon Safari seems to be doing it in a right way, while A.C.T does it somehow worse.

Better vocal harmonies, better songs, and more of them. If you think Doorway is poppy, you will probably think this is a bit poppy too, but maybe less so.

Maybe "poppy" is the wrong word anyway......but it's not a criticism. I will give blowjob a go!

All these tracks are masterpieces, except A Tale Of Three And Tree.

I just heard of these guys last spring, and I can't get enough of them. I heard Blomljud first, and thought it was incredible...it was my all-time favorite instantly. When I got Doorway it took me little longer to appreciate, but I think it's fantastic. We Spin the World and A Sun of Your Own are the catchier ones on that disc for me.
I can't really pick a favorite from Blomljud, though; everything is just so good. They definitely have a knack for coming up with catchy melodies. Lover's End is really good so far too.
