Karn Evil 9 might be the best ( i.e.for me the most involved and structured, detailed) epic. Or Tarkus. Trilogy the most consistent album. But for me it's that superb debut - probably all that piano.

Pictures should be there and I'd live to see a majority vote for Love Beach (which I have never heard...). Heard all he others but not that one... must be the great cover... ;)

Brain Salad Surgery was the only ELP album that has stayed in memory since the day I heard it.

Brain Salad Surgery

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Brain Salad Surgery - can't see how their debut is higher rated tbh, and this poll proves my point! Smile

The debut album has always impressed me for being a mission statement that reveals the major BALLS these guys had (the envious call it pretense)- The Three Fates may be ELP's most underappreciated piece. This  bands virtuousity and inaccesabliity has made it my passion for nearly forty years.

ELP should do a new album and call it Karn Evil 10.

The computers that lost the battle in the Third Impression are rebuilt by their masters, and launch an attack on the human race via Twitter. This time they win.

Brain Salad Surgery, because:
1. My first experience with ELP.
2. Great opener Jerusalem, great suite Karn Evil.
3. Definitely the best cover art of all ELP albums.

Completely agreed.

I'd say Tarkus. The Tarkus Suite is definitely their best single side.
Nothing to say here. Nothing at all. Nothing is easy.

Well, there are excellent albums like Nursery Cryme or Trespass that don't have a single epic and they are great

The problem is that Memoirs, despite being an epic (due to the length), is IMO the weakest song of Love Beach.
