Topic: Battle of the Prog Bands R2D10: Henry Cow vs Magma Posted: August 13 2010 at 13:32 |
Welcome to Round 2 Divsion 10 of Battle of the Prog Bands! This time, our two contenders are Henry Cow and Magma. Vote for your favorite, and the band with the most votes will move onto Round 3. Please do not vote unless you have listened to at least one album by both bands.
Here is the tournament thus far:
As much as I love Henry Cow's Western Culture (and their other albums are quite great as well,) I'm going to have to give my vote to Magma. Such an amazing, innovative and groundbreaking group that deserves way more recognition.

Didn't you say you were going to buy every Henry Cow album after you saw that photo of Lindsay Cooper?

Have heard some Magma, which didn't impress me too much. I like the two HC albums I own a lot, so it's Henry Cow.

Pretty much the same here. Western Cultures, though, is an album I would probably give five stars to.

I am betting this will be an easy win for Magma.
Also, I voted Cow.

Not an easy one at all. While I have had a much longer relationship with Frith and co., and though I was ambivalent for some time about Magma, their two most recent works are just so devastatingly good the scales have tipped in their favor.
So, lava flow over Hank Heifer.

The damage that we do just goes on and on and on but not long enough.
