Although I'm a fan of Romeo, Petrucci is the superior guitarist. Romeo has some awesome chops and great solos... but it just can't hold up to some of Petrucci amazing feats.

Skip to 4:38 for the solo. It's kickass.

It's because they likely don't know Romeo... but it won't surprise me when they vote for something just to manifest their hate...

Yeah, the haters should swarm sometime leading to Romeo getting many votes.

Romeo has some really neat stuff, but I'll go Petrucci just because of his awesome solo in Under a Glass Moon and in Lines in the Sand, two of my favorite "modern" guitar solos.

Petrucci.
Romeo is good but Symphony X just never clicked with me.

Romeo is a very versatile guitarist who has much better riffs, in my opinion.
Petrucci is good at showing off and making technical solos, but Romeo is good at nearly everything, and he knows when to stop and take a back seat.
Besides, I think the solo in Sea of Lies is better than anything Petrucci has ever done.

Petrucci's solo on the Score version of The Spirit Carries On alone could win him this.

I like to think that John Petrucci could play anything he wanted to. I just wish he wanted to play things that I like these days....

Not to say I'm not a JP or Dream Theater fan. I'm not a hater, just a critical fan.

God wishes he could play guitar like John Petrucci. IMO he is the best in the universe.

Petrucci, easily. He is a legend in his lifetime.

But Romeo ain't no slouch.

Regardless of how many fanboys vote for the 'Trooch, he can't play this well

and that's with stubby hippopotamus fingers too

I never said he wasn't great... but well, just see this...

You see, there's versatility there... not just fast notes... well, a lot of fast notes, but is way more than that.

One of my favorite solos...

Sea of Lies is just as melodic, and actually less annoying IMO Dead
