A favourite album of mine, I've come back to this one many times over the years. The 'lost Genesis album' as many see it. I love every second of this album. Which do you prefer?

- The frenetic, fusiony "Ace Of Wands"?
- The haunting acoustic nature of "Hands Of The Priestess"?
- The quirky romp that is "A Tower Struck Down"?
- The first-ever Hackett vocals on "The Hermit"?
- The Phil-voiced "Star Of Sirius"?
- The track nobody will vote for: "The Lovers"?
- or the epic "Shadow Of The Hierophant"?

...if it's been awhile for you, do yourself the favour and pull this one off the shelf for another spin. The remaster from several years back is nice too, and includes the original 17-minute "Hierophant", for those who can't get enough of that epic finale.

Star Of Sirius is wonderful. One of my favourite Phil Collin's vocal performances.

"Shadow of the Hierophant" is enchanting.

One of my personal favourites as well. I went with "Ace of Wands", although "Star of Sirius" is up there as well.

There's something about The Hermit that just sticks in my mind.
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

Great album indeed, no major flaws. Star of Sirius is beautiful although the poor chorus blows it a bit. My vote goes to Ace of Wands.

I always got confused where The Lovers ended and Shadow begins. I always thought that all the singing bit was The Lovers....hell it sounds loverish......and the repeated section at the end was Heirophant from the quiet start.

I still think it makes more sense.

Interesting to see "Star Of Sirius" get so many votes! I did not expect that!

As for "The Lovers", it really is just a precursor to "Shadow", only a minute or so long. To me, it's quite clear where it ends and where "Shadow" begins. Wink  ... with a bang!

Not to me it wasn't. I thought that minute acoustic bit was just the introduction to the main song. Then the song fades at the end and actually stops. The Heirophant fades in.

I know, I'm just teasing. Perhaps just consider it a "Horizons/Supper's Ready" kinda thing. Smile

No love for The Lovers.  CryCryLOL

I like the whole album as an integral piece, but I'm going to have to pile on Heirophant.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
