Well, I was watching the remake of the Karate Kid, but I'll be honest I had to quit. It's crap. Not even Jackie Chan can save this one. As a matter of fact I find his acting very poor in this and also sense he doesn't enjoy playing the part at all.

It's way too gritty, there's no emotional connection in the characters, the kids are too young to watch beating the hell out each other and most of all...

it isn't frigging karate, it's kung fu! I'd know the difference by looking anyhow, but still...it's not like they don't bother telling you in case you can't tell, they do but still call the film Karate Kid!

The length of the film is shamelessly drawn out and the car accident story is a bit odd.

The love interest makes no sense at the ages of the youths and there isn't enough spirituality or feel good factor to it to be of any respect to the original. And the big one...'no wax on wax off' nooooo how can this be!

I noticed all of this mostly as I spent the last night and a half watching the original (real) Karate Kid trilogy; one of my favourite slices of 80's cinema. Miyagi and Daniel-san are undefeated!

PHEWWWW... Sorry for all that lads, but I really needed that rant.
