FROGGIE BEAVER were a very obscure, short-lived rock outfit formed in Omaha, Nebraska around 1970. They released one and only album 'From The Pond' on their own in 1973 - which might be much influenced by late 60s psychedelic rock and early 70s progressive rock like Procol Harum, Pink Floyd, or Moody Blues - and disappeared soon after that. The line-up creditted the album were John TROIA (voices), Ed STRASKO (keyboards), Rick BROWN (drums, percussion), and John FISCHER (guitars, bass). 'From The Pond' could see the light as a reissued CD (with 5 bonus tracks - two 45 and three unreleased studio ones) via an independent label Gear Fab Records. Pretty decent one-off album Crossover prog group. I've had From the Pond for over a year now, and it frequently finds its way on my iPod. They play a sort of mystical prog/pop, with some psychedelic influence. Here's their page over at allmusic:

We'll leave it for you to chew it properly, then we'll gather pieces that will prevail

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

If you guys like Froggie Beaver, there's a harder act out their called Truth and Janey, a power trio from Iowa. They're regional like Froggie Behttp://www.allmusic.com/artist/truth-and-janey-p24899aver, but they rock it loud.

I have found this post with a search as I was about to suggest them. They surely belong to the site, I think.

And they have been rejected....probably they sound a bit proto but are too young. From the Pond is a great album in the vein of post psychedelia.

To be fair to them, no member of the Crossover team actually voted 'no' - there were two 'abstain' votes, one 'unsure' and another for Prog Related. Their material was perhaps a bit too commercial and 'poppy' in places for anyone to commit themselves to a 'yes' vote, but I reckon it must have been a pretty close call. Shame really - even in Psyche chart there was nobody voting 'no', and one person even voted 'yes'. It was quite a significant album back in its day, and maybe deserves a place somewhere on the site?

To be sure, some of our music was of the commercial pop or rock vein. Although our influences were from The Moody Blues, King Crimson, The Doors and many bands from the late 60's San Francisco scene. But I think "Away From Home" is a classic Prog Rock Ballad. I can say that with all humility, because I did not collaborate on that song. To be honest, the band that John Fischer and I were in called Straight River Band, which later became Froggie Beaver, was far more Prog Rock than Froggie. I would love to find a way to share that music with this site.
Kindest Regards. Froggie

The 'b'-side of a 45" single credited to a band called Straight River Band is posted on YouTube, and listed on popsike.com: http://www.popsike.com/STRAIGHT-RIVER-BAND-When-I-Wake-Up-killer-garage-psych/260489115000.html, with the following comment:
STRAIGHT RIVER BAND: ‘Bound And
Determined’ b/w ‘When I Wake Up’ (Pacific Avenue, 196?)
"Great, un-comped West Coast-style single here from the Straight River Band, showing off two distinctly different sides of the group, on the increasingly desirable Pacific Avenue label of Omaha: home also to the legendary Marquee Revue! ‘Bound And Determined’ moves in an upbeat, Sunset Strip direction – similar in style to the E-Types or Strawberry Alarm Clock - with strong harmony vocals, hand-claps and guitar ‘n’ farfisa backing; providing absolutely ZERO warning for the nocturnal vibe of the record’s b-side! ‘When I Wake Up’ is a moody, down-beat psych piece, recalling Marty Balin’s contributions to the early Jefferson Airplane with a touch of Doors-y fatalism. Muted electric guitar strums in a repetitive jazz loop, minimal drum and bass counter-play, stoned dirge vocals. A mellow dream interrupted by a blistering Damnation Of Adam Blessing guitar solo, shocking you back to cold, sober consciousness. A great track which would not sound out of place on the album by Clear Light or as a lost Mad River demo. Top shape to boot. Unknown year, with little more in the way of info about the band itself."
