Cool poll.

And wow bumped from September.

I just voted for Spirit Of The Age. Simply because it was one of the best experiences ever watching them play it live.

Musically You Shouldn't Do That is probably a favourite. Or just the whole of Space Ritual

An absolutely amazing start to Hawkwind's finest studio album.

But "Only the dead dreams of the Cold war Kids" by Hawklords is ahead of the pack.

Of those listed here, it would have to be Hurry On Sundown, Space is Deep, or Born To Go.

I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

What a poll !! The ones mentioned are ALL fantastic but lately (and I haven't listened to much Hawkwind in a while) my fave song is 'Wraith' (from the recent-ish 'Blood Of The Earth'). Dibs makes it happen.....

Hi,

Reefer Madness/Steppenwolf -- End of story!

After that, there are some of the sonic passages in "Electric Tepee".

Too many pieces to mention, but the sonic attacks are the things I love dearly, and some of the electronic pieces and mixes with the guitar in ET are phenomenal, and deserve better credit ... it's like having a Frank Zappa with 10 instruments under you and you boom the guitar over it!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Definitely Assault & Battery/Golden Void.  The first time I heard that mellotron intro I was hooked.

Honourable mentions...
Spirit of the Age, Quark, Magnu

And 10,000 bonus points to the live version of Silver Machine on "The Friday Rock Show Sessions" where Lemmy greets the crowd with "Hello b*****ds!" Bowdown

Oooh, I forgot about 'Sentinel'. 'Blood Of The Earth' is such a great album from the band

Always going back to re-edit.....
ELECTRIC TEPEE is my outright favourite album from the Hawks. The drum sound could've been better but the compositions are phenomenal !!!

Most of my fave songs are on astounding music
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I always thought it was a synth.

If Moonglum had been on the list it probably would have taken my vote away from Assault & Battery Wink

I always thought it was a synth.

I'm pretty sure that's Lemmy croaking and not a synth LOL

Seriously though, I just listened to A&B and the intro and first verses sound like a tron and string synth layer.  When the song goes to the flute solo about 3 minutes in, the sound drastically changes and sounds like a full on string synth run through a heavy phase shift effect.  Also, Simon House is credited with both mellotron and keyboards so it could well be a layer...and I can't think of any other place on the album that sounds like a tron.
