The Big 5:
1. Give it Back 2. Proclamation 3. Knots 4, Free Hand 5. Aspirations
5 reasons I like Gentle Giant
1. Harmony vocals excellent 2. Rhythmically interesting songs 3. Cute album covers with Giants on them 4. Use of nonstandard rock instruments 5. Creative re-arrangements/re-combination of songs for live performance

Forget about songs. All albums except The Power and the Glory, Giant For a Day, and Civilian.

I think GG were pretty good at making pop music. I think the reason people hate it so much is how much it contrasts their other work. They were about as good as Supertramp at making prog pop IMO

I'm so mad that you enjoy a certain combination of noises that I don't

Surprised that I don't see "Peel the Paint" in most lists.
1- The Runaway 2- Peel the Paint 3- In a Glass House 4- On Reflection 5- The House, The Street, The Room 6- Proclamation 7- Dog's Life 8- Pantagruel's Nativity 9- Schooldays 10- Knots
Impossible to make a list and be satisfied with it. They have so many amazing songs. I think that I could find 20 or 30 songs more that would fit a top 10 with no problem.
And sorry for ressurecting the topic. I thought it would be better than creating a new one.

I'm of a bit of a GG novice although I now do own pretty much everything. I would go 1. Interview 2. So Sincere 3. School Days 4. Freehand 5. Cogs In Cogs Unique band. Complex 'pop' at times but such precision in the playing and structure of their music.

The GG favourite song list has been done a few times before here's mine from 2012...I haven't changed in 3 years....set in my ways I suppose! 1. For Nobody2. Mobile 3. In A Glass House 4. A Cry For Everyone 5. Cogs In Cogs 6. Free Hand 7. Three Friends 8. The Boys In The Band 9. The Face 10. On Reflection When Gentle Giant rocked, they rocked and in a very complex and unique manner. Prog is Prog Rock isn't it? Or am I wrong? Gentle Giant rocked a lot....probably moreso than most of the heavy weights apart from Tull and a few others.
