Round 4, Part 1. These are the winners of Round 3, Parts 1-2. Which one do you prefer?

Just give me "Tarkus" and I could get rid of everything else from both of these albums and be happy.

Trilogy. Just personal preference, like Tarkus too, just not quite as much.

Their two best, but Trilogy beats Tarkus by a knife's edge.
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

It's very close, but I'll go with Trilogy, which is IMHO more consistent as a whole.

Trilogy

Really don't mind if you sit this one out.
My words but a whisper, your deafness a shout.

Huh, I'm surprised I'm not the only one who thinks Trilogy is way better.

Haven't listened to either album in quite a few years, but when I did like ELP considerably more than I now do, I much preferred Trilogy (particularly the Endless Enigma part II). I used to love the title track too.  THis is a pretty cool cover that I just want to share here (not really keen on the male vocals, though):

Trilogy. There is no masterpiece epic to be found on it, but this album is way better than the other tracks on Tarkus.

Both albums have brilliant parts but also have flaws.  Trilogy (the track), Endless Enigma and the Tarkus suite are superb though I find the remainder of both albums largely forgettable.  The rendition of Tarkus on Welcome Back... is also greatly superior.

I find the albums pretty much on a par, but just give Trilogy the slight edge and therefore it gets my vote.

Trilogy was probably the most balanced ELP album artistically. Greg Lake's lyrics are a vital component of the music not just throwaway stuff like on say KE9.I think he was able to put more of himself into the music which helps. That and the dry (clean) vocal. Tarkus has lots more tricks and is more 'progressive' but a lot less satisfying overall so I'm not at all surprised that it is getting smoked in the poll.

btw love that cover version LoganThumbs Up

You find 'From the Beginning' forgettable? Shocked

I'll go for Trilogy because of Hoedown, Trilogy, Endless Enigma and From the Beginning.

I don't understand why Tarkus is not popular like that...

Tarkus for me. There are some dodgy bits on Trilogy which I just cannot listen to any more.
