Are you just trying to piss people off saying stuff like that in a KC thread?^ Fripp is far from dull, and just because his emotion is shown in composition and not long bends doesn't mean he shows no emotion. If there was no emotion KC wouldn't have the following they do, instead they'd be like shred guitarists where all the fans are teenage guitarists.

u mean comfortably numb doesnt have any solo because all the members are playing with david gilmour at the time he plays guitar solo and theyre playing the same riff thats the same as red its all guitar playing in the song so its a guitar solo and what about the part when all the band stops and just fripp plays a solo

I wish I would have thought of that one. Nice call.

Do you know nothing about music? Or can you just not read what he said? Because he didn't say other people can't be playing at the same time as the solo, he said "and without an individual being the highlight of the section/piece."
So basically, yes Comfortably Numb is a solo. Just like he was talking about the band is playing the really boring repetitive structure (okay, the adjectives are added by me) while the blaring guitar solo is clearly the highlight or center of whats going on.
And he is correct.

Definitely not a solo, but the guitar Fripp plays on The Sheltering Sky behind Belew always gives me goosebumps.

What about 21st Century Schizoid Man? Noteless but very impressive guitar solo.

People can say Red is a solo if they want to...but if you look at it from a structure point of view it's definitely not a solo........

Yes! ... Exactly! ... Just that string of notes where he also resolves to A, playing a high A, a medium A, a low A. Beautiful. Especially those A's.

I actually have some trouble remembering guitar solos on King Crimson, but the one I remember that I think fits best and really like is the one at the end of the live versions of Starless, just amazing.
