Wow, I just got a copy of their 1972 release 'Lambertland' and I am
absolutely blown away. Any comments? Agreements and flames equally
welcome, I'm just pleased as punch that you've actually heard of these
guys.

TP is definitely the cream of Finnish prog, along with Wigwam (and there are quite many Finnish bands in the archives that even I don't know). Glad you like Lambertland, it's my TP favourite too - I should get a hold of it again, haven't heard it for years. Some say they don't like it because of the singer Jussi Raittinen but I think he fits very well. (In earlier albums the singer is British Frank Robson, equally good.)

Glad you mentioned Wigwam, They are one of my new faves, especially
Fairyport. Awesome stuff. Through this band I discovered Pekka Pohjola's
Harrakka Bialoipokku, one of my new favorite albums.

Yeah, "Lambertland" is one of my favorite albums from Finland. Awesome
stuff! Wigwam and Pekka Pohjola are great too! I'm glad that someone
not coming from Finland has heard these albums

Man I am glad to hear from a Finn about these bands!
Recently I have come across all this great Finnish prog: Wigwam, Hidria
Spacefolk, Pekka, TP, et al... I just wish that the US had similar
stuff to offer in trade...
Ive been saving up to come to Europe this fall to see the countries and to hopefully see some money Euro-prog.
Were coming to Iceland first, but then I hope to come to Scandanavia to
see the beautiful country first, but again, to see some music, what
else can you recommend?

From Finland, I would say Haikara's first album (very original, a mix between King Crimson and Tasavallan Presidentti), Höyry-Kone's both albums are excellent! (somewhat similar to Magma and KC, but they are totally crazy), Kingston Wall's second album (no doubt, Hidria Spacefolk were heavily influenced by them, see my reviews)..
From Sweden, you should at least check out Samla Mammas Manna (RIO group, Zappa meets swedish folk music and some weird circus-music can be heard too! excellent stuff), Anekdoten (a very good band, clearly influenced by Wetton-Bruford-Fripp era King Crimson).
From Denmark you should check out Secret Oyster (very interesting jazz/fusion)

Wigwam and TP had parallel carreers and most of TP ended up in Wigwam. Best TP is Lambertland and best Wigwam is Being.
Both were extremely important in Finnish prog , but my fave Finns are Haikara, who were 70's most original finnish band. Their first two are classic albums.

Ive been searching for Haikara but havent found it yet, sounds great.
Ive got all of Kingston Walls stuff (awesome). Anekdoten I have as
well, I like it but Im not insane for it, Samla... Ive heard and like,
need to buy more, and Secret Oyster, Ive heard of but never heard,
still looking. And as far as Hoyry-Kone goes, I will certianly look
into it.

Oh! I almost forgot! Alamaailman Vasarat's "Käärmelautakunta" is also worth checking out, and so is Uzva's "Niittoaika", although their debut is very good too.

Pekka has a few good solos in the 70's and dont
forget Ragnarok's first. Bengt Berger's(sweden)
Bitter Beer Funeral from the 80's is very interesting
and suggested if you can find a copy. Thor's
Hammer and Old Man and the Sea(denmark) are
more hard rockish as is Aunt Mary's(norway) Jadis.
A pretty healthy movement here in the early to mid
70's.
Nordic suggestions
Samla Mammas Manna - Matlid, Klossa Knapitatet,
Snorungarnas Symfoni
Wigwam - Being, but may want to try Fairyport first
Secret Oyster - Straight to the Krankenhaus, Sea Son
Ragnarok - same
Bo Hansson - Lord of the Rings
Pekka Pohjola - Visitation or one of his two early
albums
the best are just as original as the top english
progressive bands from the 70's though limited in
output.

Excellent recommendations everyone! Good to see Finland's music appriciated by non-Finns aswell 
I don't have much to add, except TP's second self-titled (aka 'II') which is warmly recommended.

Got it on vinyl in a dumper bin in 1973, replaced with the Love Records CD as soon as that was available - simply it is my all time top 20 jazz rock albums. Indeed, played Lounge at the end of my radio show last week.

WiguJimbo, thanks sooo much for recommending Höyry-Kone to
me! I just got the Huono Parturi album and I absolutely love it! Man, I
only wish I new what they were saying (especially on the awesome
operatic first track). Please all, thanks so much, and keep those
recommendations coming!
