EDIT: I'd like to sort of be the "administrator" for the game btw. I would appreciate it if others didn't post their own clips. I have my own little library I'd like to work through and if we have several on the go at once, things will quickly get messy. If one is solved in my absence, never fear, I will be along within the day to provide a new challenge ;) Thanks :)

Calling all non-hip-hop listening prog heads!
Kanye West's sampling of King Crimson for his new single seems to have stirred a lot of people up but I don't know why. Rap producers have always sampled everything and in my fairly extensive rap music library I have many, many examples of rap tracks that sample progressive rock bands.

Now you don't have to like rap music to play this game, in fact it probably helps as you will be unlikely to already know what samples are in the track. It's just a game to see who has the sharpest nose for the original sources of the samples.

All you have to do is test your prog ears by naming the artist and song that is sampled. I'll put up at one at a time and when the answer is correctly guessed, I'll put up another.

PLEASE: Do not use the internet to find the answer, or if you do, don't reveal it but let someone else guess.

Anyway, the first one's REALLY easy, I don't want to stump people off the bat, in fact I'll be ashamed if people don't get it right away...

Alright, hear the track and NAME THAT SAMPLE! No cheating now!

Will post another once this is correctly named.

Well, it's Yes. That's obvious. Can't think of the song just now, though.

I've solved half the mystery; I'll let someone else do the rest.

Well done. I expected that one to be done right away. I wonder if I'll be able to stump you guys at some point?

But for now I won't try to, don't want to kill the fun too early, so I'll keep it pretty easy for now with this:

If you're a fan of the prog act in question, you should get this immediately...

Blastocyst- if you don't mind, I'd like to be the ringleader of this game ;)

I'll use that one next if you like but I'll wait till the one I've already put up is done. To have more than one on the go at a time will get messy.

Well done :)
I've got other easy ones lined up but now I'll try one that's a little harder in my opinion. The sample comes from a song virtually *everyone* here knows... but will you be able to recognise and place it?

Damn, that was easier than I expected.

Well yeah, it would be nice if people discovered they liked some of the hip-hop tracks but it's fine if they don't. You can hate them all and still test your prog ears by spotting the samples.

That one was pretty easy I guess. At least we're all learning that hip-hop sampling prog hardly started with Kanye West's Power.

But alright smartypants, here's one I think is difficult.

Let's see how you do. Last one for me tonight as I'm off to bed but I'll be back with more tomorrow if it's solved ;)

Dancing with the Moonlit Knight - Genesis.

Took me ages! I was thinking it was King Crimson for some reason, drove me mental.

EDIT: Oh, ninja'd quite substantially. Oh well.

Alright then, but pick- which song is it, Won't Get Fooled Again or Baba O'Reilly?
