Hi Easy Livin'...the remarkable thing about this Colosseum line-up is that, apart from Barbara Thompson (Jon's wife) who took Dick Heckstall-Smith's place when he sadly died after a long illness on December 17th 2004, it is unchanged from when they broke up in November 1971.  Not many band reunions can claim that!
You can read all about it in Jon Hiseman's biography "Playing the Band".

UPDATE:
The tour is more than half over and the audiences have been just as enthusiastic as ever.
The sales of Jon Hiseman's newly published biography "Playing the Band" have been averaging roughly 20 per gig, which is more that originally predicted (tho' I was more optimistic than some about that).

Apparently there is a possibility (though only that, at the moment) that they will be back on the road for another tour next June.  Fingers crossed.

and I would think they'd love to play there, but unfortunately there's doesn't seem to be enough promoters willing to book them.  I remember when they played the Paris Olympia...the crowd went wild!

Is it possible that Colosseum will play any dates in central Canada in the new year?
I realise it is a long shot, but i live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Sorry, Presdoug Unhappy.  Colosseum never really broke through in the US or Canada. They have a few fervent fans (unintended alliteration there!) but not enough for any promoter to risk touring them.  These days, it's really only European countries, specifically Germany, Austria, Switzerland and maybe Italy, where they can guarantee big enough crowds for it to be financially viable. It costs at least £4000 per day to get Colosseum on the road (that's just the basic amount, excluding any payment for the 6 band members!). Hiring sound and light crews, hotels for around 12 people..including traveling days, travel costs...all add up.  Even in the UK, the chance of them appearing live is minimal.
Meanwhile, there will be a new DVD soon-ish and then there's Jon's biography (if you haven't already got it), though shipping costs to Canada would be pretty hefty!
Maybe you could plan a holiday to Europe in June 2011, which may well be their last tour ever.
Good luck..and have a great Christmas.

PS...there's a "Playing the Band" community page on Facebook, plus there's my blogsite, where I post occasional newsy items about the '60s/'70s music scene. Here's the link: colinrichardsonjazz.typepad.com
