Wow.

I personally have to say ISIS, but only by a very short bit.  This is like comparing my #3 band with like my #4.  But I think I like ISIS a bit more.

They're both untouchable, I would never put them against each other. If I were to vote (my life depending on it) I'd probably pick Opeth because they put out more music (and they'll probably keep doing it).

bands like Isis and Pelican don't seem to tickle my pickle quite like Opeth does.

Well personally, I'd have to go with Opeth only because there's more songs by them that I like but Isis has a really great atmosphere and excellent lyrics. I just wish Isis could have stuck around longer Cry The best Opeth album I think is Ghost Reveries and the best Isis album is Wavering Radiant.

Both are utterly unnecessary and are responsible for the degeneration of the art form once known as music.

I like Isis a lot, and Oceanic is brilliant. But, I don't find myself listening to them very much.
Opeth however has released many good albums and a few brilliant ones (MAYH & Still Life).
Also, I listen to them much more than Isis and I find them to have a much more diverse and intriguing sound.

as opposed to other genres of music? i'm going to listen to some justin bieber and 50 cent because they're definitely moving music into the right direction.

Not really, its just Walter being a troll as usuall.

I voted for Isis as they need the votes and recently I've been listening to them a lot more than Opeth. Two brilliant bands though.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

Opeth is my kind of thing.
For me Isis is fine for selected songs but never entire albums.

Gonna have to be Opeth for me. I never got into the post-metal thing much, whereas my opinion on Opeth has been made clear on past occasions.
All your hearts now seem so far from me,
It hardly seems to matter now.

Opeth. Its closer than it used to be though, as I've outgrown Opeth a little bit, and post rock and metal have become very big parts of my recent listening. But its still gotta be Opeth, no other band could really get me into metal the way they did. I still remember buying BWP and sinking into the atmosphere.
It is a pity ISIS is gone though, but I admit they picked a great time. Right after their best album.
