It's not often that I make a poll with a discernible theme; this is one of those few times. U Totem is made up of members from the other two groups here, and I'm a huge fan of their debut. I haven't heard any albums by the other two groups yet, so I won't be able to vote here. My question is this: which of these groups is your favorite?

A huge response so far eh Jon ?
This really is a tough one for me.MOTOR TOTEMIST GUILD is very cool with Emily Hay and maybe the most adventerous of the three.Maybe not though because all three are that way. I really like Dave Kerman on those 5UU'S albums and it really became Dave's baby towards the end just like U TOTEM sort of became Grisby's work.U TOTEM is an incredible project especially the debut which you just reviewed, but the second one is well worth getting.
Tough call but i'm going with 5 UU'S

U Totem.
5uus comes in second, but its really not that close. What I headrd from MTG is mostly a step behind, except for City Of Mirrors which probably is better than anything 5uus did IMO.

You know I've learned to expect small responses by now. Still, it's nice to get responses from the people who do respond, and I'm about 500% guaranteed that no one will be making multiple accounts to vote on my polls. ![]() |

I'm a scholar in all three bands, but further analysis is needed.

I've only heard both U Totem albums and 5uu's' Hungers Teeth, so I can't really say. Of those 3 albums, my favourite is U Totem's s/t by a good margin.

Although U Totem's (the self-titled in particular) is great -- I was an uberfan of that album, I feel like voting for Motor Totemist Guild -- so I will. I think City of Mirrors excellent. I also like 5UU's' Abandonship and Regarding Purgatories very much. Been quite a while since I've listened to any of these albums.
I will say that Emily Hay's vocals don't appeal as much as they once did. |

The U's are all great avant rock bands from the states. 5uu's is lead by Dave Kerman (drummer composer), Motor totemist guild is lead by Games Grigsby (multi-instrumentalist, composer). U Totem is a merge between them.
U totem is more of a band while Motor totemist guild is more of an ensemble that change line-up according to the album/project.
5uu's is more of a logo name to Dave Kerman activites, but the most well known incarnation is in the albums 'Hungers teeth', 'Crisis in clay', with Bob Drake (bass, sound and production).
Hope it helps
I voted for Motor totemist guild, not exactly for they are the best, but I think it is most sugnificant (if you understand what I mean, not surely I understand myself ...
