A Symphonic prog album with a bit of progressive electronic music for Hayao Miyzaki's Nausicaa.

Some R.I.O. or excentric stuff for Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2.

For Lone Wolf & Cub, tracks varying from speed-metal to ambient soundscapes, including some shimashimen solos.

If we want to talk about Japanese influences on prog rock concept albums, somebody should make a prog musical version of Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

Also, The Phantom Tollbooth just seems made for prog. It has a post-punk band named after it and a few songs in the animated film but no actual rock music about it to my knowledge.

Yes! Somebody must make this happen, I would find a concept album about Flatland really entertaining.

For something silly, how about an album about a Tarkus Vs Giant Hogweed Crossover battle? LOL

Something ambitious like Colossus' Divine Comedy, but much more nerdy and incredibly pretentious, and also a 12 or more disc album:

"Mendeleyev Unleashed: The 118 Elements of the Periodic Table"

I have a concept band - it's a duo of Nyx & Erebus, the children of Chaos, who themselves begat many children including Morpheus and Nemesis.  At gigs we dress up as the different children and act accordingly.  We're going to make a film of Chaos giving birth to us.

A Star Wars concept album would be awesome, but it'd have to be in the style of late 70's symphonic prog.

Nah, commercial suicide ain't it? Wink

Well, I woke up this morning, went to the john

There were red beans and corn

After a couple of beers I'm going to finish these lyrics.  Cool

A young boy gets taken away from his parents, his entire family, after an 'accident' occurs and his first kiss with a girl results in her death. For years and years he is uncertain what happened, or why he is living in the remote medical institute in which he now resides. It is eventually revealed to him that any time his skin touches another living creatures body, they are petrified aka turned to stone. Thus involving the realisation of eternal loneliness, never finding love bla bla bla?

ohhh.. one NEAR and DEAR to my heart...  I don't think anyone has done a concept album on this but may have I didn't know it ....because well... is damn SO classic.

Classic? oh no.. One of the greatest works of sci-fi literature..  it made a huge impression on me as child..  directly in fact led to persuing mathematics as a course of study.

Assimov's Foundation series.

now the BEGS for a prog concept album. Lord knows we've gotten sh*tty Hollywood moves based on the prelude to the story.

How about the concept album equivalent of "Memento", where all the action happens in reverse order?  Naturally, the piece would end with a nice overture and begin with a climactic finish.

A album about Hermann Hesse's Steppenwolf would be nice.

An atom blaster is a good weapon, but it can point both ways.
It's a poor blaster that doesn't point both ways.

Now THIS is good thinking. Awesome idea. Thumbs UpClap

And musically, since the series is a bunch of vignettes covering the downfall of the Galactic Empire, each piece can be wonderfully unique in composition.

I would definitely have a Bel Riose section.... and hope it was done in pure Symphony X thunder and glory!!

just rewrite the lyrics to the Prophet's Cry... that could be soundtrack to the Empires attack on the 1st foundation. Clap

Great quote..he had so many haha.   Who didn't have a Salvor Hardin favorite.
