LOONEY:
the persons "contributing" to this thread are feeding you a load of rank shoite.

These are not prog yet they are definitely what you are after.
They reference poets/writers  like Sidal, Rossetti and Dunsany:

Bob Johnson & Pete Knight   "King of Elfland's Daughter"
Goblin Market
Smell of Incense (The Norwegian band, not the US) - their 2nd & third lps

Also you might try  side one of Sally Oldfield "Waterbearer"

It's a real album, I'm afraid. Doom metal band. It seems like Discog's links have issues. Here's the pic from a different source:

Well,...it's about time someone mentions this band? It doesn't seem to happen all that often? Does that mean they suck?.........LOL Only kidding! BTW,  since you went the distance and recommended Ange, may I ask, what planet are you from? and am I welcome to visit there? "Au Dela du Delire"  has been reviewed many times but, is hardly mentioned by those who put emphasis on Yes and Genesis. Don't go there right? Okay! enough said!

I would like to add a 3rd or fourth time that GOBLIN....Profondo Rosso is a must! A must! It figures that a thread revolving around the subject matter of faerie and goblin interests would be the only way to bring fans of underground bands out of the woodwork? Isn't that ironic? Now we should post threads on the importance of bands like these just as many do with the big 5 or 6.

no Snowy , i really like your comments & jokes , but be flexible with ignorant people like me , we have a terrible accent in English , but we do speak , write & enjoy more than 9 languages , it's one life , one progarchives , one trackstoni , one snowdog . i want you to do your job , be flexible , and help others . these forums doesn't need fun , it needs good taste & experience in progressive music to deal with !
sorry , and take it easy , we're all friends after all ! TracksToni

What you want doesn't come into it I'm afraid. And I disagree that  ." these forums doesn't need fun". Whatsort of attitude is that?Ermm
Please apologize my intromission, but I'm here for fun, too.

Stretching the definition a bit, there's a nice ambitious piece called 'All in the golden afternoon' by a rock composer called Ian Neal - it's based in his reflections on the 'Alice' books, rather than traditional faerie lore.

Thank you SO MUCH for this tip. I've listened to it and this just what I was looking for. It's one of the finest pieces of music that I've listened to in a long time. It has traditional folk roots but it's progressive and very atmospheric at the same time. I wish I could find more music like this...

This is not prog, but I really like it, Haggard's "Herr Mannelig". It is a traditional scandinavian folk song, played in a metal way. Though, for some weird reason, the band decided to sing this one in italian. It is one of the very few songs this band sings without growling. And it's about a Troll woman who falls in love with a human, whom is Herr Mannelig.

Great way to feed stereotypes and bind everyone in "weak imagination"

Life is not "a living story," and ugly people like myself often more good to them then a lot of pretty scoundrels and cheats.

Some stuff by Genesis also comes to mind, Lady Lies, Lillywhite Lilith, The Lamia, Trick of A Tail (especially actually)...

There is stuff by Uriah Heep too that I think has goblins, or at least Abomanogs.
