Neither.
The only enjoyable solo album from a floyd member is Richard Wright's Wet Dream. Why? Because Mel Collins is on it.

Gilmour is always better than Waters.

Pros and Cons is not a great album for me. I just find it a bit boring to be honest. On an Island gets my vote.

Not always. But in this case he is. My favourite solo album from a PF member is Amused to Death (Roger Waters). Next comes Broken China (Richard Wright, I have heard more than half of it here and there) or On an Island.

No he's not. In this case, I would rate them as about the same - 3 star albums each. Waters went on to great artistic heights in the albums after Pros. Gilmour didn't.

Gilmour is almost never better than Waters, but this his release is possibly better. Gilmour is in general very average blues-rock guitarist himself, Waters is dark genial artist. Unhappily, Waters almost never was successful in his solo releases, Gilmour just does what he knows best - plays blues rock and pop-rock.

If you remove the word "only" and add Snowy White to Mel Collins I could agree but....
I think Broken China is more enjoyable (and progressive) than Wet Dreams. Nick Mason's fictitious sports might match your tastes. I guess you never heard it...
About the two in the poll, for me Pros and Cons is the worst Waters' solo album and On An Island is Gilmour's best so the choice is easy. I will not fall in the dispute between Waters and Gilmour's fanboys. I like them both.

Pros & Cons is a difficult album, which never fully unfolds (like some vintage wines never open up), despite repeated listens..... but On An Island is a completely unprog and lazy snoozefest (easily Gilmour's worst)
I think that pitting Waters Vs Gilmour albums is useless, because the people will always judge by the feud that opposed them, with Waters taking on ther villain's role.... Sooooo expecting objectivity is not realistic/

The best thing on Pros and Cons is Cherry Vanilla on the sleeve....

I won't vote..... I haven't heard Pros & Cons
but
On an Island is great if you are in the mood for it.
The Final Cut and Amused to Death are both hard for me to listen to

Both of these albums are pretty lame.
My favorite Floyd solo is Gilmour's self-titled first.

If a poll about solo floyds hasn't been done yet I'll do one (but it's possible that I've already done it...who knows?)

I struggle with solo albums to begin with- I often find them unfulfilling and sometimes even weak compared to the work of the artist in question's main band- but the members of the Floyd in particular were never anywhere as good on their own. I mean, On An Island is a nice album, but it simply lacks substance beyond chilled vibes. Pros and Cons is inventive, but I find it musically lacking. So I don't think I'll vote, this time around. Amused to Death is a much better album than Pros and Cons, by the way, though still not up to Floyd standard, of course.

sorry my friends for the lack of knowledge about what you're doing here in these forums ! however , i can't simply reviewing all your materials in this site , i've been in Jail for one year , and had no idea about your polls ! i know , that some of my polls were posted before , but i felt like asking those questions to you my friends to satisfy my hunger to the truth , and get a general idea about some critical point in those issues !

I can't see that you have anything to apologise for. A perfectly reasonable poll
