Thierry Zaboitzeff was the bassist/cellist/vocalist for RIO legends Art Zoyd. His first two albums, Promethee(1984) and Dr. Zab and his Robotic Strings Orchestra(1992), were released while he was still a member of AZ. The rest of his albums were released after he left the group in 1997. His music is a mix of chamber-prog, Zeuhl, techno and "world music".

I did a search and found nothing. I'm surprised he hasn't been added yet. I'm not too good at this sort of thing so I don't know if my links will turn blue. I don't know how to imbed YouTube videos and I realize some videos will not imbed. If somebody can fix that for me I'd appreciate it. I do not actually own any of his albums, so if he gets added i could not honestly review one of his albums. But he is on my wishlist of future music to get.

This is his official site(in French). Under 'audio' you can listen to 30 second samples of every song from every album:

This is his MySpace page which has 3 full songs and a bio in French, English and German:

This is his Last.fm page:

Here are 3 YouTube videos of Thierry in concert (sorry for not knowing how to imbed them):

"Frozen/Cross The Bridge"

"Introitus"

"La Remontee"

I don't know if that Last.fm link will lead you to any full songs. But the French streaming site Deezer has 12 full albums you can listen to:

Does anyone have a particular title they would suggest listening to for ZART eval?

Thanks!

Voyage au Centre de la Terre

You can listen to that on the Deezer link I provided. It has a longer studio version of "La Remontee" on it.

By the way, I like your avatar. That's a good album!

Still in evaluation process, but got two "YES" yet, no negative opinions, so he's on a good way I believe. (One more YES vote from team's member is needed for addition).

Hi zravkapt , a third, and final Yes vote came today, so he's in!

We have a problem with where to put him though, as he has a large discography covering a lot of different styles [as you point out above]. I listened to ' Voyage au Centre de la Terre' and it was quite zeuhl to me. Slava agrees. But do you think he should go in Z., or in rio/avant prog?

Thanks for your input!

considering he (with Art Zoyd) was one of the founding fathers, essentially, of RIO/Avant, I'd say that's a better fit.  Besides, Zeuhl is a sub-category of avant-prog

Yes, this (Voyage to the center of the earth) is more zeuhl than anything.  I think more evaluation of his other works is needed for proper placement.  If they are all very similar to this I would say zeuhl is the best fit.

I think the Zeuhl element is mainly in the vocals. Some of his songs are similar to the ones he wrote for Art Zoyd. I've  heard four of his albums: Voyage...(electronic Zeuhl), Promethee(electronic chamber), Missa Furiosa(chamber techno) and India(South Asian techno).

I'm glad he's in so you can put him wherever. I hear you're splitting RIO and AP? If you had one AP sub he would fit there. If you had RIO, AP & Zeuhl, it would be harder to place him. With RIO/Avant the way it is, I think he fits best there due to both the music and the historical significance.

So Voyage is more "zeuhl" than the others?  Agree that it was mainly the vocals...on further reflection I was missing other elements (jazziness, fuzz bass, etc.).  But I only sampled a couple of tracks.

So maybe AP is the best.  Right now the decision is easy since RIO/Avant has not been split, but if it is split it would be interesting to consider if he should go in RIO since he's a RIO "offshoot".
