Disconnect are a progressive rock group based on the East Coast of the U.S. Listeners are treated to myriad influences such as King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Rush, Kevin Gilbert, Peter Gabriel, and Spock's Beard, among many others. The band has created an intriguing blend of technical proficiency and elegant songwriting. As longtime veterans of the "mainstream" music scene playing up & down the East Coast of the U.S. in various bands, since their official formation in December of 2009, they have they have written & recorded 31 original songs. Comments, etc. are greatly appreciated! Edited by Angelo - December 10 2010 at 06:59 |

band is in process by the crossover prog team btw ...
could listen to three 'Obscuros' songs and consider them substantial - heavy and smooth parts are alternating, nice stuff Edited by Rivertree - December 03 2010 at 16:45 |

Hello there!
Nice music you got there. Sound is a mix of Rush/Sieges Even, Floyd and Spock's Beard sort of, so it can't be bad! :) Some Mars Volta guitars on Circadian Rythms intro too are enjoyable. The Visitor's nice but has a bit of a "déjà-vu" impression... I could easily confuse this with a 70's group I know, especially with the use of quite familiar guitar tones, also there on the rest of the songs in a less obvious manner (K.G reminds me a lot of Neal Morse/SB) Some great grooves, but also some passages when you feel nothing's happening. Good sound quality. I would've loved to see drums go more subtle, I'd say less Peart/Portnoy would do some good. (my personal taste) To sum up: Positive: - Some great riffs - Always a nice groove between bass and drums - Good sound Negative: - Familiar tones and structures - I'm not a big fan of the vocals... I would suggest: - More use of electronic instruments (synth, beats, soundscapes) - More build-ups/"long" structures - Go further away from structures that could "go anywhere" Please review our music too! http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=73526&title=why-prog-trio-from-paris Edited by mono - December 10 2010 at 05:23 |

I've moved this thread to Suggest New Bands and Artists, with albums on sale, the band should not be in the Unsigned Bands section.
BTW, I fixed your first post. Next time you copy from Word, use the 'Past from Word' button in the post editor. |

Cool music. EXTREMELY reminiscent of Mars Volta and Porcupine Tree

Good band. I don't like the singing either, but that's because I don't like this style, not that it's something wrong with the singing from a technical point of view. I think the best place on PA for these guys would be in Crossover, by far.
