Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

If we want to start adding post-punk artist I think we'd better start with artists like Tuxedo Moon or Coil or Foetus or ... I could go on for a while.
Those have at least some kind of connection with kraut, jazz or prog-electronic.

Love Numan's music by the way.

How the hell did you work that out? Please itemise this "strong case" for me, because I don't see it - I see the diametric opposite.
What?

He needs to get in line behind Collin Walcott, and oh I guess The Cars. One of these things is not like the other and that would be Collin.

However, I will request that Scott keeps his avatar of Nick Drakes' sister until Numan is added.
LOL I guess the thought crossed my mind to make Numan my avatar. Though Gabrielle is much nicer eye candy and even softens my approach to the posts for some reason, she has that calming effect on me. Smile

Numan is related to many styles - pioneer of techno, pioneer of dark synth tracks, pioneer of NIN Industrial style. His influence is huge. too many write him off as a one hit wonder with Cars. He is not doing any Cars-style or  related songs now. Check out his DVDs I have them - they are very dark and NIN like. NIN are here. Numan himself would want to be here.

i have emailed Numan on his website and I will tell you what he says.

"Dear Mr Numan. We are wondering on the progarchives website, is your music progressive, if so would that mean you should be added to the progarchives as an artist. Or are you more prog related. What is your opinion on the type of music you play. NIN are on the archives too just to let you know. If you talk to Trent Reznor can you ask him too? Ask what he thinks about being added to progarchives as an artist. i will pass all information to the administrators on a thread when you respond. Thanks"

What was the answer?LOL

btw Replicas falls comfortably into the area of electronic prog although pretty much everything after that was eighties synth pop imo.

Numan refused to answer....

Although it appears that the questions sent to his official site are primarily for a new interview coming up after the tours so he may yet answer, but no correspondence to individuals is given.

I have followed his music since Cars and onto his latest Dead Son Rising.... it has moved through a number of genres over the years and it is easy to pick them out when you have them all according to specific albums and images.

Tubeway Army - The Plan: the punk years, cyber punk image
Replicas to Telekon: Electro New wave - synthesizer heavy, android image
Dance - Warriors: girl vocals and sax years (almost cyber disco). image was android in a suit with silver lips, mad max image too.
Beserker: New sound, no sax, lots more girl backing vocals. White face, blue hair image.
Strange Charm: commercial radio friendly sound, girls, heavy bass, Blade Runner influences. leather jacket image.
Outland: sounds of Predator movie; image like a demi god in white.
Sacrifice - Exile: much more dark, image of an anti-god with darker lyrics.
Pure - Jagged: Industrial prog. First step away from the old styles. Much heavier guitars and synth.
