Which bands are you a fan boy of?

For me the biggie is Jethro Tull.

For years I refused to buy the Jethro Tull Christmas Album because I don't do christmas albums because they're rubbish. But this year I realised I don't really have any christmasy music and guess what. The depths I will sink to for my fix.

I mean I don't think I mindlessly love everything they do (I'll openly knock A and Catfish Rising as being a bit rubbish) and have a real, articulate appreciation of their music but my 27 hour 349 song Jethro Tull library which doesn't just include their official discography but goes beyond it and also 3 hours and 51 Ian Anderson songs makes it hard to not look like an addict.

What about you?

Pretty much anything involving Steven Wilson or Toby Driver, esp:

Kayo Dot
maudlin of the Well
Porcupine Tree

I'm sure other members can vouch for me

I have to say Tull don't often disappoint, especially considering how huge their catalog is

I'd like to ask all confessees to include a tally of the number of songs and length of music you have by the artist so we can see who the biggest nutcake is.

47 hours of Crimson is pretty shocking, 64 of Zappa not so much given that he released 8 albums a week.

I have Opeth's entire, studio album, discog.
All 9 albums, ever song.

Aw hell, how much of a fanboy can I be? I don't have any of their DVD's or all their compilations.
I have it all already, but it's so compiled!

Having a complete studio discography is not that scary if you really want to be a nerd. The really scary fans have somehow managed to compile a collection twice the size of your official output.

I don't think you can be a fanboy of Genesis (and other such bands) if you don't like their pop albums too. (Maybe it's the case for you, I don't know).

I think when you know things about the band that the band doesn't know you may be in "over-enthusiastic" territory.

I remember some guy making a thread once asking people to list their 10 favourite Toto albums... he must've been pretty dedicated if he lived in a world where your average person knew ten Toto albums existed yet alone had a list of their ten favourites.
