You're right, I have the second Isotope (Illusion) on Gull/Motown. But as far as I know, the only Kraans that got a US release were Andy Nogger and Let It Out, and they were on Passport. And both Seventh Wave albums were on Janus.

I've always had a soft spot for this lp..........

Nice album, tons of mellotron, and I love the song, "Golden Fleece".

ELP's label Manticore had American distribution through Atlantic at first, and then switched to Motown, oddly, around 1975. I have at least two albums from that period, PFM's "Cook" and Keith Christmas's "Brighter Day."

The Italian prog act Libra had one album, "Winter's Day Nightmare" on Motown proper.

Funny you mention it but in the late 70's, PFM's "Cook" was available as a super-cheap cut-out LP at department stores or any big chain that had a record section like Sears, Montgomery Wards, White Front, etc...

For those who never saw a "cut-out" back in the vinyl days, many albums had a slot actually cut out from the upper left or right corner of the album.  These albums were maybe 30% to 40% cheaper than regular non-cut-out albums...why?  I don't know.

No, but it's mentioned in the biography on the band's page, even if we do manage to misspell his name (which is pretty spectacular) and fail to mention he was also with Magna Carta (surely Magna Carta trumps Dire Straughts any day of the week) - but as they were only the 510th band to be added to the PA, that's excusable

SMPTE is a standard for synchronizing timing in audio and video sequencers and devices, related to MIDI.

I didn't know that was obscure. Cool

I wouldn't mind being in that contrabass case Wink

For those of you non-dutch speakers I'l translate the quote:

"Normally it's already daylight when I awake. Today it's completely dark. When I stretch, my hands touch a ceiling. It gives away. Suddenly I'm bathed in light. Am I dreaming? or did I sleep in our contrabass case? And where are my clothes? Suddenly I remember that I had an appointment, today is the day I was going to show myself naked."
