I prefer VdGG's work - I love every song from that album.

Both very good early Prog works with each band still reaching for their own sound, something that I really like. But in the end, it has to be my favorite Genesis album the one I'll vote.

Trespass has superior melodies and I love its prog folk leanings.

I concur with your statement! Trespass underated by people thinking they were still raw. They entered with a bang! If you don't think that Gabriel, Banks, Rutherford, Mayhew and especially Phillips weren't on top of their game when they wrote and recorded this then. I'll put The Knife and Stagnation up against nearly all else with just a few exceptions.

Hmm. The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other has Darkness. Trespass has Stagnation. I'll go with Least.

As much as I like trespass (and I do) TLWCDIWTEO is an excellent release. Even if they are both both stars The least...has the stronger 4 star rating.

Trespass has nothing that can compete with Refugees. Least is a really great album. Trespass' sound bothers me sometimes, but it's still good.

Trespass was my first experience with Gabriel´s Genesis and I consider it as absolutely amazing album up to this day. On the other hand, Van Der Graaf Generator had never caught me, beyond a couple of exceptions. Too complicated music, too much lyrics for me.
So. easy choice. Edited by Gandalff - January 11 2011 at 02:09 |
