KC too experimental?  Isn't that what prog fans look for?  Would you rather listen to a band that fits comfortably in the genre, or a band that consistently takes chances?

Oh yeah..............I went with KC.

No, they look for Hammonds and mellotrons and any other sounds that take them "right back to the 70s".  The rest are heretics.

Just got to know Camel a few months ago, and still am getting some albums (well, as a matter of fact, I still need to get a few King Crimson albums too, but overall I think I have a better idea of their discography). Though I have come to love some things from Camel quiet a bit, I still give the edge to King Crimson.

This argument fails when one considers that the same can be said for the Moody Blues. A founding father of prog? Check. Mellotrons? Check. Flutes? orchestras? Check and check. Concept albums? Check. Spoken-word poetry? highly pretentious? Multi-suite songs? A concept album inspired by the first moon landing? Check. (If they had actually recorded a rock version of Dvorak as planned, I think we'd really be in trouble!) Ouch LOL
