I purchased Stone Piano by Steely Dan yesterday. I couldn't find it in Prog Archives, and it wasn't on their official website's discography. Does anyone know the status of this album - its definitely them.

Is it that bootleg of studio out takes from the 70's?

Yes, is it a bootleg?
I've never heard about it but I know there are infinite names for a collection of their old pre-Dan experiments, for instance; one title for it is Old Regime and has the listing Brain Tap shuffle Come Back Baby etc. |

To quote myself, I just googled it and it has a similar cover and listing to old regime... these are songs worked by Becker and Fagan before Steely Dan's first album/ or outtakes... here is some information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Found_Studio_Tracks Funny, there are a ton of names for packagings of this album.... [EDIT: also note the sound quality is atrocious, if I remember, the stuff isn't worth a dime in my book] Edited by RoyFairbank - January 30 2011 at 20:48 |

Hmm. . . I checked out the titles, and at least "Parker's Band" was released previously, albeit longer and probably re-worked.

Yeah I ordered Yellow Peril thinking it was a new album. Turned out to be something SD warns you about on their web site. Kind of interesting if you are curious about their formative period but really not worth bothering with.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Great musicians masquerading as songwriters
