four bands from different countries that plays modern 90s prog that three of them have strong ties to alternative music rock scene, don't know much about Anekdoten or if they have alternative rock roots or links
four of the leading modern prog, new prog bands in their country
good luck
PS!!! IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ONE MIGHT HAVE LISTEND TO 3 out of 4 BANDS and know them well, I know less about Anekdoten so I can not vote in this poll myself Edited by aginor - January 31 2011 at 17:31 |

you know Procol Harum created their own nieche in prog in the 70s like theyr own symph prog sound which they molded to their own IMO, quote Aginor

Of these four, I haven't heard Anekdoten so I won't vote ... but I think I prefer Motorpsycho to Porcupine Tree by a hair, despite having heard only one MP album vs. 4 PT albums. Tool didn't do a whole lot for me but I still enjoy them every once in a while.

I still don't know Anekdoten well enough yet (though I've been recommended them by several people and got specific album recommendations from Mellotron Storm, who I'm sure will be here soon enough to vote). What I've heard of them I've liked more than what I've heard from the others, though. As far as PT goes, if I could choose early PT only (up to but not including In Absentia
) they would probably be second, since I really like The Sky Moves Sideways. As it is, Tool is probably second, and since I haven't really enjoyed most Motorpsycho I've heard they'd probably pull last. No vote though, since I still don't know Anekdoten well enough (or Motorpsycho really).

Pretty much this
There was a problem a while back with multiple accounts solely for the trivial purpose of poll manipulation, so new members must have 50 forums posts before they can vote Edited by Triceratopsoil - January 31 2011 at 20:30 |

Anekdoten and Porcupine Tree are pretty much crossing the finish line at the same time.
Tool is great but a distant third while Motorpsycho hasn't left the starting line yet.
I chose Anekdoten tonight 'cause i don't think they'll get many votes.

I don't meet the requirements, so no vote. Probably I would hesitate for a long time and then vote PT just ahead of Anekdoten.

How could we read it, from right to left or conversely?

Rather indifferent to Tool but very fond of the three others. So, Early PT >= Anekdoten > Motorpsycho >= later PT >>>>>> Tool |

Anekdoten are currently in my car system, but I still prefer PT. Never been a Tool fan but I know them. I don't kn ow Motorpsycho at all, but the poll says 3 on 4.
