RIP Gary Moore

 

The tribute clip was excellent and he played with some of the best such as BB King. The news report played clips of his 'Friday on my Mind' classic among others, and talked about his contribution to guitar metal. I saw his video many years ago and really enjoyed the melodic and acomplished guitar.

 

He has been taken too soon, too young.

 

RIP Gary Moore.

Sad News indeed, I first saw Gary live back in 86 and managed to see him last July at High Voltage.Not particularly my thing musically, but a fine musician none the less. RIP Gary

 

 

 

I was lucky enough to see Gary in concert on many occasions. Back in the early 80's, he would always include either Edinburgh or Glasgow on his tours, and his band would feature the likes of Ian Paice, Neil Murray, Don Airey, Tommy Eyre.......great musicians and fun to watch!

 

My favourite Moore moment was at the Reading Festival in 1982. It was a sweltering summer afternoon, and most of the crowd had gravitated to the right hand stage to drool over the 2 girl singers from Aussie band Cheetah. That allowed my mates and I to wander right down to the front of the left stage, knowing that Gary was up next. After Cheetah finished there was a 15 minute gap before Gary came on, although he was obviously on stage behind the curtain as he warmed up and entertained us by playing along to the PA music in his own inimitable style. Some of the licks he threw into Eddie Cochran's Summertime Blues were amazing!!
