well one note, Prince is 10 years younger then the three other gyus so he started a wee bit earlier, but that his iconic status is as huge as the other three,
three catacters of rock and roll and whos caears have inlfuenced and mooved way for other artist,

The albums that Elton John recorded between 1969 and 1975 are among the best popular music ever put on record. He really touched the Beatles level of excellence with those albums, with a help from Bernie Taupin, of course.

I actually place each artist on the same level (pretty damn great). Each had their peaks. I'd actually place Honky Chateau, Da Da, Purple Rain, and Ziggy Stardust all on the same level. Which is to say 5 star. I gotta give the slight nod to Elton, though, because of course his slew of albums from 1970 to around 1976 were ear-popping to me. Although David had his Berlin and Prince had Purp and Sign and Coop had from School's out to Welcome and all that sort. Love all four artists, really.

I think that Jones is the most balanced combination of an artist, an entertainer and an innovator. That's why I voted for him. Most of his earlier works are excellent.
Dwight is rather entertaining and has some bright moments. Nelson is probably the most innovative of these four, but I have some problems with his output in the sphere of appreciation. I am not a fan of Furnier's horror-oriented style. Nevertheless some of his singles are true gems and Halo of Flies is one of the very few songs that never failed me during the last 38 years; moreover, it is the #1 prog masterpiece created by a non-prog artist.

Since you're obviously fishing for some raised eyebrows with this statement, I'll bite. Which Labyrinth did you see?  It's tough between Elton John and David Bowie, but I'll go Bowie because I enjoyed his albums more. Elton John certainly had a long list of fantastic singles, and I'm more content with a greatest hits from him than an album. As for Prince, I've only heard a few singles on the radio. Not really my thing. Same for Alice Cooper, though I love "School's Out", never heard anything else and never felt compelled to pursue it. Edited by EchidnasArf - August 08 2011 at 17:03 |
