And now for something REALLY controversial. Wink

I admit I'm not too sure about this, because it's rather unclear to me what the direction it is that people want this site to go in. It seems now that people want to add everybody who makes progressive music even if they're not in any way prog. David Bowie, Bjork, Talking Heads, etc.

So keeping that in mind, if you want to include any band with some roots in prog. I think Post Punk could be considered for a new genre to add. I don't consider it that much more removed from prog than post rock.

Bands like Wire, Public Image LTD, Magazine, Japan, XTC and such definitely exhibited some prog influences. Groups like Pere Ubu and The Pop Group could argubly even fall into avant prog territory.

I don't consider post punk to be prog, but it is rock and it is progressive, and this website has a habit of including artists/groups who are usually only one of those.

Punk rock was of course a reaction to prog and went out of it's way to be the exact opposite in every way. Post punk however was a reaction to punk rock's anti intellectualism, these bands set out to combine punk ideals AND progressive rock ideals.

Too controversial for its own good. Stern Smile

No, seriously, it either got too heated or it is already one year old.

Its not quite a year old .  So it must have been too controversial.  Wait and see how long the Gravy on Yorkshires thread lasts for ...there's controversy for you.

Great bands though.
Help me I'm falling!

I was thinking that we should suggest a new prog sub-genre ... post-art!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
