Having been around since the begining, I think I know as much as anyone on this subject. Forget the 'Drama' & '90120' drivel. Listen to 'The Gates of Delerium' for something 'Heavy'!?...

As i said earlier in the thread i didn't want to add the 70's tracks because then there really would be no need to vote and it'd be Gates of Delirium - 60 votes. But i agree it is one of their heaviest pieces of music

From the poll choices? Machine Messiah.
But the real answer is South Side of the Sky. SSOTS And a really great cover of it. And ya, that's Jon Anderson during the intro. SSOTS Glass Hammer Edited by Chula Vista - September 13 2017 at 12:30 |

But I am interpreting this as more 'Heavy Rock' not 'Yeah that's heavy man' Gates is probably the best prog track ever.

Great choice. I'm still sticking with SSOTS. Gonna toss America into the mix too. America |

Machine Messiah is the closest they've gotten to anything "heavy" but "Gates Of Delirium" does have some surprisingly chaotic moments but otherwise it's just conventional epic-Yes

Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

Agree, MM of those.
A long time since I've heard it, and I know it'snot terribly popular (the album, anyway), but I used to like 'Big Generator' the track. Certainly heavier than 'Lonely Heart', FWIW. |

Machine Messiah might be the only one I consider to be "heavy." THe others are good and I like "new state of mind." However, my "heavy" Yes tracks would be "ritual,""gates of delirium,""big generator" and "city of love."

I've just plonked Drama on the TT - yes indeed - the finest Yes album ever (of course I love Tales, Relayer, Topographic etc....) but DRAMA............. This album just kills....................
Just like Slayer - nothing beats Hell Awaits no matter what..... |
