I just have listened to ARK yesterday and their music really hits me in the middle of the brain.....It was almost like the first time that I listened to Dram Theather back in 1998 .

Why this band (ARK), that have the same or maybe more talent than DT has a very small fan base?????   Why haven´t they grow so far???

Do somebody knows when ARK is going to take out another album???

I´ve been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure dilusions

I think it's because they depend on the singer Jorn Lande, who participates in many various projects.

Their music is really excellent and varied. But they are not popular at all. It's mainly because Dream Theater's popularity... many prog-metal bands have smaller success.

Jos:

Actually, they have not formally disbanded.  Noth the singer, Jorn Lande, and the guitarist, Tore Ostby, participate in numerous projects.  However, there is talk of a third album, with drummer John Macaluso (among the most underrated and underappreciated drummers in prog) and an as-yet unnamed bassist (Ostby did most of the bass tracks on the first and second albums.)

Personally, I like Ark as much or more than DT overall.  Yes, I think DT's "Scenes" is arguably the greatest prof-metal album ever made, and blows away almost everything else.  However, DT is maddeningly inconsistent, and in many cases is little more than "speed metal" (albeit top-of-the-line speed metal) with occasional "progressive" sections.  Ark, on the other hand, has a more consistent style, approach and execution. although it is admittedly not as "intense" as DT at DT's strongest.

In my opinion, if Ark does two or three more albums as good as the first two - as consistently good - they will rank higher than DT in my book.

Peace.

I love ARK,and wish Jorn Lande would take some time away from Masterplan(not a band band, but definitely power metal),and do another ARK album. He has an amazing voice.

The guitar work on "Burn the Sun" =

Oh yes, Ark deserve as much recognition as DT get. And I do hope they reunite.
