An elected government? A junta/military coup? A democratic one? A fascist one? A socialist one? Monarchy? Republic? Left wing? Right wing? Conservative? Progressive? Reactionary? Oligarchic? Moderate?

Exemple: in France, the President and his government are from the republican conservative right. But I voted for the left party candidates. So, can I trust the government of my country?
Moreover, at least, I can say I had many choices, not like people living under dictatorships.

This question is too much... global and "ideal".

Why would somebody trust the people making a wealthy living off of ruining their lives?  

My distrust of the government seems to become more justifiable every time they make a move.
