Did anybody get yet another new generation? I have black, and it's a good game except for the fact that there are all new Pokemon..

I beat Black a few days ago.  It was really fantastic in my opinion, probably the best Pokemon game yet.  The story was pretentious bullsh*t for many reasons I won't go into, but the gameplay was probably the most solid of any generation.  You can catch the Pokemon from previous generations once you defeat Ghetsis, by the way.

We recently bought Pokemon Black for my daughter's DS.  I was not impressed -- I much prefer Zelda games.

I wasn't aware Pokemon games had a story at all beyond "Catch Pokemon to defeat these dudes in a cruel blood sport to satisfy your pride". But oh man, I looked it up on Wikipedia and now they're trying to morally justify your oppression of Pokemon. If Pokemon are outlawed, then only outlaws will have Pokemon!

Has anyone played the new Ranger game? I played it for 10 minutes at Best Buy the other day, and I was laughing that you capture Pokemon with love, somehow, although your Pokemon beating up the other ones somehow increases the enemy Pokemon's affection for you. But there are no KOs, no blood required in this new, enlightened age!

Nope.
I stopped after Gold/Silver
The series does not exist to me after that Stern Smile

Original 151 was still best though

Nah, while I haven't played any since Silver, Silver had a lot of improvements over Red. I assume that incremental change has continued. And if you haven't heard, Black/White is only new Pokemon until you complete the game. No more army of Zubats in every cave!

The Ranger game that I've played was one of the worst things ever. Worse than Pokemon Pinball on Gameboy Color.

Playing Black now.Still early in the game,I'm just about to challenge gym leader Burgh in Castelia City.
 
Quick question for anyone playing Black.....
 
Has anyone caught the mythical pokemon Victini yet?He's on Liberty Island in the basement of the lighthouse.I have tried and tried to capture him and no luck so far.

Ok,just caught Vicitini.Got him down to a sliver of health,put to sleep using Yawn and started chucking Ultra Balls.Caught it on the fourth ball.

Yeah I got him.  The first time I went through about 20 balls then when I tried again I got it in 3.  It doesn't really make sense that it "creates unlimited energy" since it's not really that amazing of a pokemon.

I agree,Victini is nothing special.It's moveset isn't really impressive,though it does seem to have great defense.But I'm going to keep him on my team and level him for a bit.
 
I took my wing fossil back to Nacrene Museum and got an Archen.Pretty good Pokemon.He has high speed and high attack,but is a bit frail.

You need them for this game.I found the encounter rate in caves to be sorta ridiculous.
