Thursday the Twelve... was a bit disappointed by it to be honest.
Still It Takes Me By Surprise... I like that one, though not the way it is sung. But a great song.
Island In The Darkness... haven't heard the Strictly Inc. album, was put off by the ugly art work. Is it good?
Waters Of Lethe is quite good. I think Banks himself thinks that too.
You... absolutely fabulous!

About Strictly inc. Not a great album, just good, but Island in the darkness is a superb epic of 17 minutes that I consider one of the best (if not the best) Tony Banks tracks. Absolutely progressive rock (IMO).

Totally agree - superb piece of music.

Okay, so the epic is really worth it. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I think you won't be dissaponited. Luck.

I find Tony Banks (what i have heard at any rate) totally underwhelming.

Well, I must admit that even when Genesis is my absolute preferred band, and Tony Banks my all time rock musician idol, I always expect more from him in his solo efforts, so by some way I agree with you. By the way there is some stuff that fills completely my expectations, for example, as Island in the darkness.

Yes that is it. I expect much more. I mean A Curious Feeling is not a bad album.......just not enough for me. Bankstatement is horrible though.

Well, I`m not thinking at this extreme. Noone of his albums are horrible for me. I like all his stuff, but in many cases I would like something more complex, longer, etc. I know he could give much more that what he has shown in many of his albums. I bought Bankstatement just when  it came out (in a cassete) and was in a special moment of my life. I really like this album (not prog, except some bits).

In my opinion, Still is a good album, but not my favourite of Tony Banks. Another murder of a day and Still it takes me by surprise are great tracks. I enjoy much the one sung by him Hero for an hour.

About Soundtracks, it has many good moments too. Lion of simetry is a good track. Agree about Fish performance in Shortcut to somewhere. But the best are the instrumentals as Smiling Jack Casey and the suites, with some parts in a really classical music way.

No, there's news about a new Mike & The Mechanics release though on April 11.
But that wasn't the question, though  Smile ,  and I sound like a spoilt child, but I would rather have a new Tony Banks album.

I was looking deeper in the web, but I can not find anything else. By the way the information was spread by one of the most known Genesis fan sites as Genesis News (it) (www.genesis-news.com), but of course is not official.

Thanks genbanks & moogy. No reason to doubt it of course, but its interesting that Banks himself has not said anything so far.

I have received information from an official source that Tony Banks is recording his second classical album.  It is likely that the album would be released in autumn.

Could you perhaps tell us the name of the source, please, BanksianDuchess?

Indeed Moogtron. Thanks for posting BD, and welcome to the site. Until the "official source" makes an official announcement, this must be considered speculation.

I think Banks-A Curious Feeling album is like Part 1 or 2 of Mike Rutherfords Smallcreeps Day.  I have always enjoyed these 2 albums played back to back.  In my opinion Smallcreeps and Curious Feeling are the best solo albums ever to come out of Genesis (yeah...i know... hate me for it).  I like these 2 albums better than any Phil or Peter solo album (except the Peter album that Fripp produced).  Maybe it's the sound of that era that appealed to me.   Both (Curious and Smallcreeps) are such deep introspective albums lyrically and musically rich.  A very bright moment in the life of Genesis.

As far as Banks stuff:  I never cared much for Fugitive, Bankstatement, Soundtracks, or Still, Strictly Inc was a pretty good album.  The guy from Wang Chung who sang lead vocals on Strictly Inc. did a pretty good job of it.  "Only Seventeen" was a great track.  "Charity Balls" had such a full rich sound.  To me, Tony Bank's playing always sounded like he had 15 fingers.  The man makes arpeggios and chords like nobody else.  I found an obscure B Side collection from Tony Banks that had some really bizarre dance'y  remixes on it from Strictly Inc. that made me laugh.  I think the guy that sang on Strictly Inc. should have been the singer for Calling All Stations.  I like his voice better.

2. Electric Guitars and Bass Guitars or Synthesizers
3. No F'ing Orchestra
