Which one of these bands do y'all prefer? I think for me, it depends on the kind of mood I'm in. Right now, I prefer Beardfish, though, once the new Volta album comes out, this will probably change.

Beardfish by a long shot. TMV just never did it for me.

Wow. I know its early but I expected this to be a bit closer.
The Mars Volta for me. Even though their most recent albums have been terrible to average at best, their first two are quite excellent and are way better than anything I've heard from Beardfish. (Which is less than what I know from TMV so grain of salt perhaps)

I have enjoyed pretty much everything The Mars Volta has done. Immensely creative and hectic.

Love both... but need to go with Beardfish. Beautiful and just as complex in a subtle way.

The Mars Volta is a band that really blows me away. Like mentioned above the "organized chaos" is something i've come to love. I also only like Mammoth and Destined Solitaire from Beardfish, while i enjoy all of The Mars Volta's albums.Edited by Horizons - April 05 2011 at 16:28 |

It's true. They don't have that much in common. I just thought it would be an interesting matchup.

You did a poll just like this, with the only reason that both albums were from Heavy Prog. You were quite surprised when people asked what they have to do with each other ![]() |

Both ECLECTIC! Haha, though TMV is more inventive for me, funny that I just listened to the entirerty of Frances The Mute in my room, always a blast, though listen to it few times, it's looooooong.
Sleeping in Traffic Pt 2. is fab though.
