Gnome trilogy Gong. Early Roxy has yet to grab me. They sound like a band still in formation, testing this, trying that. It is unique and intriguing, but it also sounds rough to me a lot of times. Gong, on the other hand, while also unique and intriguing, sounds like a complete band. I know they are experimenting, but they've got their sound down.
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

Nice poll.
Gong for me, but Roxy with Eno is really out there too ! If you could find some old videos of Roxy with Eno... and their wild clothing there is some good ones out there, maybe on youtube.
I clicked Gong, but i could have clicked both... too late :-)

Gong, but only by a narrow margin; the second half of For Your Pleasure is pure out-there genius, and if it had been recorded in Germany it would be hailed as a Krautrock masterpiece.
I've often wondered if Jerry Hall dumped Bryan Ferry because she couldn't face going through life called Jerry Ferry.
