both are quirky at best, hard to get into, quirky ballances in the bounderys of psychadelia, krautrock, canterburry, glam rock and avant/jazz.
strane erratic vocals and effects, highly expermiental and controversal, not to serious, with lots of irony.
I also can hear tiny details that one can compare each to periods (sonicly)
so what do you like mostly

My avatar is self-explanatory but Gong is another major source of genius.

Gnome trilogy Gong. Early Roxy has yet to grab me. They sound like a band still in formation, testing this, trying that. It is unique and intriguing, but it also sounds rough to me a lot of times. Gong, on the other hand, while also unique and intriguing, sounds like a complete band. I know they are experimenting, but they've got their sound down.

I can't vote because I haven't heard Roxy, but it's HIGHLY unlikely I'd like them more than Gong. Especially encompassing other era's of Gong.

Nice poll.
Gong for me, but Roxy with Eno is really out there too ! If you could find some old videos of Roxy with Eno... and their wild clothing there is some good ones out there, maybe on youtube. I clicked Gong, but i could have clicked both... too late :-) Edited by Run Home Slow - April 06 2011 at 12:47 |

Gong, but only by a narrow margin; the second half of For Your Pleasure is pure out-there genius, and if it had been recorded in Germany it would be hailed as a Krautrock masterpiece.
I've often wondered if Jerry Hall dumped Bryan Ferry because she couldn't face going through life called Jerry Ferry.

Both are good, but I prefer Roxy's first two albums.
