Topic: Kayo Dot and Henry Cow Posted: April 10 2011 at 16:20 |
Whilst the classic vs modern polls are going I'll do one that actually has merit. Kayo Dot have been called the modern day Henry Cow and are currently the most visible of avant guard bands, at least on PA, and HC were at the forefront of the RIO movement at the end of the 70's. They both also have some serious detractors.
No prizes for guessing who I voted for.

Kayo Dot for me. Henry Cow had the bad luck of getting into my playlist at a time when I couldn't appreciate them; and now, when maybe I could, I'm not interested anymore.

Too often does this sort of thing happen to you. --- I like the Dots a lot, but it's Henry Cow all the way. Edit: Yikes, I'm the first one to choose them!

The only Cow album I enjoy is In Praise of Learning, so my vote goes to KD.

Henry Cow. There's nothing KD does better than HC. Also the musicians are better and charasteristic ...

Henry Cow. But then I've never heard anything by Kayo Dot. And In Praise of Learning is their weakest.

Henry Cow.
They could've not released the first three albums and I still would have voted for them.

Kayo Dot.

Another poll that battles two pretty wildly different bands? I guess except they are both avant.
Ah well, I'll add another for KD

I dont know, there's a pretty good comparison between Western Culture and KD's most recent albums.
