Both these albums from esteemed math rock pioneers Don Caballero are considered to be the pinnacle works of the genre and have very high ratings on this website, yet stylistically the two are noticeably different.  Which one do you think is best?

Hi,

I would rather have Babe Ruth's Amar Caballero listed here ... much better than those caballeros! And Janita rock'ed and then some and she made Iggy look like an idiot!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Either of these two albums are pretty incredible.  American Don is my favorite of the two and it's significantly lighter than DC II in terms of tone, less rocking but more sort of ditzy mathy fun.  DC II has much more of a garage rock kind of feel.

I'll go with American Don with this one.

I went after Caballero ... not "Don" ... but if you have never heard Janita Hahn and Babe Ruth's first 2 albums ... chalk it up to another prog band that no one cared about!

American Don for me. Don Cab 2 is a fair amount heavier and raw compared to American Don, but is less angular and intricate, in my opinion. The Peter Criss Jazz is my favourite! Thumbs Up

Don Cab 2. I like American Don, but it has moments that hurt my ears, most notably in the closer.
