Queensryche's one of my favorite bands, primarily for their Rage for Order-Warning-Mindcrime-Empire-Promised Land material. Nothing else really comes to mind when I think of them.
I'd place Dream Theater and Fates Warning on the same level in my heart - great, technical, catchy (sometimes) powerish-prog metal inspired by Iron Maiden and Rush. Neither hit my heart. Neither blow my mind. Both entertain me at times.

We all know the obvious winner here, and the poll wasn't really needed to know it Much as it pains me though, I have to chuck another vote for DT. I don't know what it is...but Fates Warning never really sat well with me. I've listened and just not my cup o tea. Queensryche I like even less. Though out of all the "classic" prog metal bands you missed one, the one which would get my real vote: Psychotic Waltz!

depending the period ,
I love DT from start to Scenes included, then they gone on other paths, love Queensryche from start to Promised land, then gone to other horizons never came back really
and love Fates Warning but only with Alder on voice, never enjoyng Arch at all
so probably will be a band called Warning Theater of Queensryche for me

I enjoy all three. Back in the early nineties I would have said Dream Theater, but I´ve kind of lost interest in their music with each new release. Queensr˙che has released a few good albums and lot of not so interesting ones, so it´s Fates Warning for me. I enjoy most of their output.

I never warmed to Fate's Warning. Queensryche was my favorite band for a large chunk of my life. Unfortunately, I dislike most of their output after Promised Land. OM2 had some good moments but I didn't like the change in sound after DeGarmo left. DT is still releasing good material today and has been more consistent than Queensryche overall, but with a few less shining moments. DT still wins for me.

Queensryche. The worst song on Mindcrime is better than the best song on Scenes.

Dream Theater.

When he rides, my fears subside. For darkness turns once more to light. Through the skies, his white horse flies. To find a land beyond the night.

I'll give the vote to Queensryche, even though I like all of them pretty equally. It really all depends on my mood.

Dream Theater hands down for me, instrumentals especially, also even if at times I know and cringe at the vocals, knowing it's coming hahahaha this said, I still like James vocals overall a lot.

I don't know Fates Warning very well at all
I don't get all the love for Operation Mindcrime it's a very average album for me
DT has some great moments so I would vote for them over Queensryche
