No big surprises here...

Robert Fripp (duh)
Steve Hackett (I love his classical guitar work almost as much as his electric)
Steve Howe (he created such a unique style)
Brian May (live he rocks like crazy but I love his multi-layered-harmony studio creations best)
David Gilmour (makes it cry and sing like no one else)

No particular order and only front the fairly early days.

I'd love a poll that discriminates by age: 1960's is - 1970's
to
1980's ish to 2000-ish

take what you can get.....

Wow, I can't really make a top 5; so no particular order:

-Andy Latimer
-Gary Green
-Steve Hackett
- etc.

But I'd like to show you one. (I haven't checked through all the 6 pages, so I dunno if he's here)

Someone said that Van Halen is the best guitarist of all time. Some complained and said that it was only speed. Well, I know someone who scratch even faster than him, on his first album.

It's Ian Crighton from Saga. Go find a live performance of "Humble Stance", it's simply amazing. He do a solo with the keyboard near the end of the song.
