GG have many AWESOME guitar riffs that would make AC/DC jelous/proud, so hmm what do you progzers think is the most grabbing guitar riff, which gives you most reason to raise the devil horns and BEDHANG ( I mean HEADBANG) Big smile

i think the heavy riff on In a Glass House is headbangworthy I have even made the cute bartender at the studentbar play it, and SHE LIKES IT the entire song can you belive it, but that riff after like 5 minuts is like punching myself with a fist.., so intence WHAM!!!

I have the beginning guitar riff to All Through the Night as my "alert tone" on my phone. It's such a juicey riff that it turns heads sometimes and I have actually been asked, "What song is that?" When I say its by the band Gentle Giant I get the usual "Never heard of em'..."

I don't know if it was a Moog but keyboard thing Minnear does after "time to rearrange" is what hooked me on the band the first time I heard it.  Hail to power and to glory's way all.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

There's another amazing hard rock riff off of Experience on In a Glass House. Though the title track is my favorite from that album! Big smile The riff from Peel the Paint (Three Friends) is killer as well.

I've always loved the riff during the last passage of "I Lost My Head"

The main theme of "Playing the Game" is awesome.

Lots to choose from, but my favourite is the acoustic guitar part in Octopus (Boys in the Band) on the Playing the Fool-album, from about 2:30 to 6:00.

Plenty to choose from. Three Friends has plenty.

I'd say the most notable is the one from "In a Glass House". Quite "heavy".

So many great ones so I won't repeat any that are mentioned. I'll go with For Nobody.  It's a great interplay of guitar and keys together. The intro section is amazing and they keep it up through most of the song.

For me it doesn't get much better than the title track on Free Hand. So funky.

Pantagruel, Three Friends, Peel the Paint, The Runaway (2 or 3 riffs), Prologue, The House, The Street, The Room... I think I'll go with the last one, especially the middle section riff, so heavy, it sounds like Black Sabbath circa 1971 to me.

Make AC/DC proud? That's pretty insulting to Gentle Giant
