My favorite one is Song for Scheherazade, but Ashes are burning and Mother Russia are also astonishing and, to me, very close to Scheherazade.

The same for me, plus the guitarist in your avatar Clap. I guess you like Live at Carnegie Hall.

Ashes are burning by a whisker to Scheherazade. Andy Powell's guitar work in the studio version of the song is the icing on the cake.

Running Hard. In fact, I like all songs from Turn of the Cards and A Trip to the Fair almost equally.

I used to picture a perfect melody in my head. Then I heard it on Opening Up, so that's obviously the most perfect song ever written. Hence I cannot vote on this...

I went for Vultures, perhaps not their best, but I found the lyrics rather moving.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

No question:  "Trip to the Fair"!  It is one of the most eerie, haunting songs ever made! Still freaks my bothers and grown daughters out every time I play it!

It was a toss up for me between Mother Russia and Trip to the Fair.  Mother Russia won, but only just.  Great songs all though (Vultures, not so much).

Very hard choice! Went for "Ocean gypsy", I never appreciated the full beauty of that song until I head the Blackmore's Night cover.
