They made three LPs, if I recall it right. I just have the first one - which I haven't listened to for months.
Yet, it didn't strike me as strongly as the VdGG stuff, while without being bad.

It's not like VdGG, but the first one is really good. It reminds me of the atmospheric, melancholic instrumental pieces on Nick Drake's Bryter Layter album, especially the tracks on the second side written by Jaxon.

The second one is by Potter and Evans (w/Jaxon) and is my least favorite. Some okay moments but mostly New Wave meets New Age.

The third is by Jaxon (w/Hammill and Evans) and has some good tunes. Some cheesy drum machine stuff holds down the groove for some good songs. Enjoyable overall.

The fourth is by Evans (w/Jaxon) and is really good. Very solid instrumental album. Jazzy and avante-garde.

Gentlemen Prefer Blues came out in the mid-late 80's. It's by Banton, Evans, & Jackson. I remember being really excited about it, and then when I heard it I was severely disappointed. I've only heard it a few times but remember that it was not very good at all (and it's often repackaged as a VdGG album called Now & Then, which is a bad thing; I'd hate to think that an unsuspecting newbie would pick this up on spec because they'd heard about how great VdGG was and then think that this is what the band is all about).
