I'd actually like to see how this poll goes in like a year from now and separated into three eras.
X is another transition album, we just didn't realize it at the time. When you put two and two together, I don't think I'd classify 'X' to be in the NdV era. I understand that he was still the singer, but as far as writing, he only had joint credit for writing a single song. I don't think that NdV contributed too much to the creation of X due to the previous commitments that ultimately signaled his end in the band. I think 'X' marks the beginning of the next era, which I'm going to call the Meros / Alan Morse era as they were the primary writers for X.
I am eagerly awaiting the next album as I think it's going to expand in the direction that X went, with arguably, the best lead singer that the band has seen.
That being said, by the constraints of the poll, I've got to vote Neal Morse era, "Snow" is excellent and the five that came before it have some great highlights as well.
